Elizabeth Louise Hatch Holbrook
Our beautiful mother, Elizabeth Louise Hatch Holbrook, passed away on the morning of May 22, 2012 at the age of 87 leaving behind her loving husband, Cal V. Holbrook.
Elizabeth was born on June 3, 1924 in Hatch ID, a daughter of Ransom Osborne and Mary Louisa Flinders Hatch. She was the fifth of six children and the only girl. She had a soft-spot for her brothers and always found ways to serve them with love.
Elizabeth married Cal on September 29, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple. Together the two of them raised eight children, Ron (Pat) Holbrook, Dean (Susan) Holbrook, Terry Holbrook, Ray (Lori) Holbrook, Kent Holbrook, Jan (Jeff) Barnes, Joan Holbrook, Mary (Jeff) Bybee. Over their 69 year marriage, the family expanded to include 22 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Mom especially loved spending time with her family and was happiest when we were all together. Along with her husband, seven of her children, and her grandchildren, she is survived by one brother, Roy (Jolene) Hatch of Bancroft, ID.
Our mother was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and relished each opportunity she had to give service through her church callings. She often sang with her friends in church and at many funerals. Mom was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers in the Rainbow Camp. She had a love of quilting, and each marriage and baby in the family was the recipient of her talent. She could often be found playing cards and games with her family or enjoying her love of cross-word puzzles.
She was preceded in death by one son, Kent, her parents, four brothers, and one son-in-law.
Elizabeth''s Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the Washington Terrace 4th Ward, 4760 South 200 East. Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
