Elizabeth “Betty” VanderKooi Pally SOUTH OGDEN – Elizabeth Pally, 92, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009 at McKay-Dee Hospital following a massive stroke. She was born March 24, 1917 to Matilda Bischoff and H. Peter VanderKooi. She had two older brothers, Alma and Wilford. Betty, as she was known, was educated in Ogden and lived there her entire life. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1934. On July 11, 1936, Betty married Alex Pally. Together they had three daughters: Marilyn Eckholdt, Dorothy Smith, and Shirley (Neil) Hudgens; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, which were the joy of Betty’s life. Betty and Al were married 56 years when he died in 1992. Betty was loved by all, especially her family. She was blessed with a wonderful gift of music and played the piano by ear. Her favorite pastime was watching the Utah Jazz. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the medical staff at McKay-Dee Hospital. They were so kind and attentive during Betty’s hospitalization there. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, one granddaughter and one son-in-law. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 20 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Lance Nelson officiating. Family will greet friends and neighbors at the mortuary on Friday, June 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden, Utah.
