Elizabeth McKinstry Quinn

March 12, 1923 ~ January 30, 2016

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Elizabeth McKinstry Quinn passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2016.

Elizabeth was born on March 12, 1923 in Ogden to James Merrell McBeth and Ida Elizabeth Butterfield McKinstry. She was one of six girls and two boys. She was raised and educated in Ogden, graduating from Ogden High School in 1941. After high school she worked at DDO and the Ogden Arsenal until she married her sweetheart Ransom Ben Quinn. They were married in Ogden on June 30, 1948 and happily raised two children.

Elizabeth’s life was one of service to others, her family, friends, and community. She was a very active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings: Relief Society in the ward and Stake, Visiting Teacher, Primary Teacher, Primary President, and Cub Scout Leader. She was active in PTA and served as president at Hillcrest Elementary School. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Elizabeth was very talented and loved crafts and sewing. She enjoyed doing genealogy work. The most loved role that she had was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She cherished her moments with her family who were her pride and joy.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Debra (Ron) Peterson; son, Randy (Charlotte) Quinn; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Avon (Ray) Wiese, Ogden, UT and Katherine Soleberg, Bakersfield, CA.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ben who passed away on June 8, 2012; brothers, Merrell and Emmett McKinstry; sisters, Ellen Meikle, Blanch Cranor, and Connie Bartz.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may gather with the family on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment will be at the Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.

The family would like to thank Nurse Julie Lee and the staff at IHC Hospice along with the Mountain Ridge staff for the wonderful care they gave to Liz.

In Lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Primary Children’s Hospital or a local charity for those in need.

Elizabeth’s honesty, kindness, and love of family will long be remembered.
