OGDEN - Ella Eggleston Williams passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at the age of 85. She was born May 31, 1925 in Grover, Wyoming. She was the youngest of eight children born to Sina Petersen and William Jesse Eggleston. Ella moved to Ogden in 1942 and graduated from Ogden High School in 1943. She married Ralph R. Williams on Sept. 6, 1948, in Ely, Nevada. Ralph was serving in the Navy and was transferred to Treasure Island. Ella worked for the Twelfth Naval District at Treasure Island for 23 years. They resided in El Cerrito, California until her retirement in December of 1973. Ella and Ralph''s home in California became the greatest place for many of her nephew and nieces to spend their honeymoon. They were all treated royally and several of them received gold watches upon graduating from High School. Ella and Ralph moved to Ogden in January of 1974 to be close to her family. Ralph died July 24, 1977. After Ralph''s death, Ella had some very special friends in her life. She met Harold Colburn in 1982, and they spent eight years together boating and having fun golfing. Ella crocheted 200 Afghans for the Kidney Foundation after Harold died following a kidney transplant. She met Vaun Herbert in 1990. He was a Shriner and she helped Vaun as a volunteer with the Shriner Circus for 10 years until his death. Ella is survived by a sister-in-law Joice (Arlo) Eggleston. She was preceded in death by four brothers: William, Lorin, Arlo and Raymond; and by her three sisters Zelda Swenson, Cora Anderson, and Virgie Stoffers. Respecting Ella''s wishes, there will be a family prayer at Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. on Saturday, May 7, at 1 p.m. Condolences may be sent to www.lindquistmortuary.com
