Layton – Ellen W Briggs passed away December 19, 2016 at home.  She was born February 10, 1927 in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of John Morris Whitesides and Luie Hazel Adams.  She graduated from Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah.

Ellen married Harold Cahoon Briggs July 9, 1948 in Layton, Utah and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  They had four children Joyce (Lawrence) Brock, Janet (Kurt) Johnson, Mark W Briggs (deceased), and Matthew W (Valerie) Briggs, 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, father and mother, five brothers and sisters and her son Mark.

Ellen was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in the primary and Relief Society organizations.

She worked at First Security Bank where she enjoyed helping people with their banking needs.  She also loved spending time in the mountains and driving through the country side just to see the wonders of nature.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Layton Stake Center, 60 W Gordon Ave., Layton.  Friends may visit the family from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church.  Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
