Ellen Dolock
January 26, 1947 ~ June 17, 2017
Ellen Dolock was born in Brooklyn, NY, and grew up as an only child. She had family in New York in her childhood, especially cousins that she spent a lot of time with at the horse stables. She also spent a lot of time with her grandmother whom she loved dearly. Her stepdad was a professional opera singer. She went with him to his concerts where she learned to love different kinds of music and loved to sing. Ellen had long beautiful hair that she never wanted anyone to touch, she was fearful of someone cutting it off.
Ellen and her husband SP-5 Rick Dolock, had adopted their daughter, Trista My Ahn Dolock. Trista was six months old when she was evacuated, a part of Mrs. Betty Tisdale’s baby lift evacuation from Vietnam in the 1970s. The Dolocks were the first ouple of Fort Benning, New York, to adopt one of the Vietnamese children. Ellen had lost contact with Trista years later which had broken Ellen’s heart.
Ellen was very secretive about having three different doctorate degrees, but was proud of it. She didn’t care about material things, but was a very good listener, and once she connected with you she was a loyal friend. Ellen was very artistic, both in drawing, oil painting, and other artistic things. She enjoyed yoga, horses, and all kinds of animals, especially her cat Polly in later years. She loved writing and taught a writing class at the Golden House Senior Center in Ogden. She also volunteered with the Senior Companion Program at Weber Human Services for four years caring for her clients like there were her own.
Ellen had spent the last few months of her life at Mountain View Health Services, a nursing home in South Ogden, Utah. While she was in the facility, she inspired and touched the lives of those around her, residents and staff included.
She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.
