ELLEN M. PEDERSEN JOHNSON

1938-2014

Ellen M. Pedersen Johnson peacefully passed away on January 2, 2014 with members of her family with her.  She had suffered through many medical problems, including a liver transplant 12 years ago, and colon cancer several years later.

Ellen was born in Tylstrup, Denmark on December 9, 1938, a daughter of Richard Pedersen and Helga Dahl Thomsen Pedersen. As a child during World War II, she lived through the German occupation with her father as a member of the resistance.  She graduated from technical high school and worked for a butter export firm in Aalborg.  In 1958 she was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She immigrated to Utah in 1960 and married her missionary the same year. She has been a faithful member of the Church and her testimony has grown throughout her life.  She always kept in touch with many cousins and childhood friends.  Her grandchildren were especially loved and they returned that love.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband to visit relatives and seeing the beauties of Utah.  She and her husband flew back to Denmark several times to visit family, and in addition enjoyed the beautiful, green countryside of Denmark, and a Danish pastry or two.

She is survived by her husband, Frank C. Johnson, five children:  Richard (Beth) of Centerville, Utah; Kevin of Singapore, Asia; Kenneth (Lisa) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Elaine Kasteler (Dick) of Holladay, Utah; Lisa Walker (Blain) of Cibolo, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Bountiful Hills Ward Chapel 1190 E. Bountiful Hills Drive, Bountiful UT.  Friends may visit Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary 727 N. 400 E. and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services.  Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.  Condolences may be shared at www.lindquistmortuary.com
