Ellen Tilley Rees

ROY – As days turned to weeks, and months turned to years, the mom we once knew faded with our tears. Seeing her change, each day that would pass, not knowing what to expect, or how it would last. As words grew few, and her silence grew more, the mom we once knew stood before us no more, with all the blank looks, and the occasional words, the sadness within her that couldn’t be heard. Now her angels have come, and they’ve taken her away, to join with her loved ones and out of harm’s way. We’ll remember her now, as she used to be, talking, singing and laughing, dementia free. One of the greatest mothers ever known passed away on June 23, 2013. Ellen Tilley Rees was born on September 30, 1928. Ellen married Calvin C. Rees on June 17th 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, together they had seven children that learned so much from her and her many talents; LaWana (Val) Tyler, Kerry (Tim) Kidder, Denton C. Rees, Almarie (Jon) Daich, Starla (Mike) Rees, Marnae (Larry) Hoxer and Brandon Rees. Ellen was very proud of her 33 Grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson and another on the way. Ellen spent most of her life quilting and crocheting for her family and friends. She worked hard in her yard and garden. She worked at IRS for over 30 years making many friends. She enjoyed monthly socials with her Knit Wit club, and devoted herself to service in the LDS church whenever she had the chance. Including six of her children and grandchildren, Ellen is survived by her Sister, Charleen Dunn Wright and one brother Keith Tilley. Preceded in death and greeting her with open arms; her husband Calvin C. Rees and her son Denton C. Rees, her two granddaughters; Christine Rees and Rachael Lynn Tyler. She was also greeted by her parents Alma R. and Ella Lucille Tilley, and her two brothers, Derald (Berwyn) Tilley, and Clarence (Joyce) Tilley. And so, when we remember her, we’ll think of all the rest. We’ll concentrate on earlier years and remember all the best. For in the real scheme of things, her illness wasn’t long, compared to all the happiness she gave us her whole life long. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church located at 4900 S. 2000 W., Roy, UT. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W. 5600 S., Roy, UT and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd., Ogden.
