Ellvaughan “Bonnie” O. Brower, 79, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, May 12, 2014. Born one minute before midnight on May 25, 1934, she always celebrated her birthday on the 26 th . The third of four children, she was the daughter of Charles Lee and Vinetta Elizabeth James Ormond born in Logan, Utah. She was raised in Logan and Hyrum and moved to Ogden with her family at 8 years old, graduating from Ogden High School class of 1952.
She married Albert “J.” Brower on December 24, 1956 in Ogden, Utah. While J. was in the service in San Francisco, Bonnie worked as a specialist for Libby-McMeil & Libby Import/Export business. She worked as a private secretary for the President of Ogden Utah Knitting and for many years as a bookkeeper with Hinckley’s Auto Sales and Hill Air Force Base, along with a couple of other businesses in the Ogden area. Accomplished at short-hand, Bonnie could accurately record 120 words a minute and type at 60 words a minute.
Bonnie was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved teaching her Sunday School classes and serving in Relief Society. She received her endowment on May 25, 1996 in the Ogden LDS Temple.
She enjoyed serving as a volunteer senior companion helping senior citizens with transportation. In her early years she loved to bake and cook and can food. She also enjoyed camping trips with her family in the Eden valley. She was fond of Twinkies and generally had a sweet tooth. She loved to be social, enjoyed cats and dogs, and observed a yearly tradition of making Santa Cookies for Mike. She loved tap dancing, and attending Weber State athletic games. In recent years she enjoyed visiting with her friends at the Golden Hours Center. During these last years, Bonnie was grateful for Darlene Harding and Lynnette Pagano for all their time and care.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, J. Brower, Ogden; son, Michael J. “Mike” (Lisa Ellen) Brower, Lewisville, TX; grandson, Brayden Michael J. Brower, Lewisville, TX; and brothers, Lee Clair Ormond, Snohomish, WA; and Carol James Ormond, Bloomington, UT.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and youngest brother, William “Bill” Ormond.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Taylor Canyon Ward, 1643 26 th St., Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
