Elma Amilker Carrera
Our dearly beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Elma Amilker Carrera returned to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 18, 2011.
Elma married Paul Carrera on August 18, 1950 in Delta, Colorado.
Elma is preceded in death by her late son Shawn Carrera and is survived by her sons, Paul Jr., Quentin and Michael and daughter Shirley. Also surviving are her siblings, Sam, Robert, Alex, Roger, George, Ty, Larry, Willie, Wesley and Valerie.
Elma spoke fluent Spanish and English and was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed cooking for her family and watching any and all cooking television shows.
She was a member of the LDS Church and enjoyed watching KBYU television programs. Her faith in God gave her strength in life.
Elma has many grandchildren who she loved deeply and helped raise.
Her interests and hobbies ranged from cooking, sewing, riding motorcycles and reading her scriptures. Elma enjoyed shooting her handguns at the firing range and was an excellent marksman. She also enjoyed fishing with her son Michael.
We will miss her greatly and her legacy will live on through us forever and bring our children strength and comfort.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
