E. Gene Fessler
E. Gene Fessler passed away peacefully on September 20, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
The second of four children, he was born on October 11, 1929, in Salt Lake City to Tillie and Harry Fessler. He graduated from Weber High School in 1947. After serving an Eastern States LDS mission from 1949 to 1951, he married Norma Jean Stuart daughter of Leroy and Levon Stuart on January 16, 1952, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Salt Lake City Temple.
He worked in the financial industry and owned his own business before retiring from Davis County in 1995 after 13 years of service as an assessor. He spent 14 years serving the city of Clearfield as a councilman and as a member of many organizations supporting the city.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends. He liked to travel and watching sporting events (especially the local Utah college teams).
He served many callings in the LDS Church throughout the years, including a mission with his wife in Nauvoo, Ill, in 1998.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, son-in-law, and two granddaughters. He is survived by his wife Norma Jean, brother, Bill Fessler, sister, Rosemary Musgrove and his six children, Kaylin Young, Susan (Terry) Forristall, Debbie (Jerry) Colvell, Stuart (Cindy) Fessler, Doug (Terri) Fessler, Angie (Mike) Sorrells, 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three more great-grandchildren on the way.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Clearfield 7th Ward, 350 N. Vine Street Clearfield, Utah. Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, So. Ogden.
