Emblem

Elmer I. Hagloch, 92, passed away peacefully at home on July 6, 2023 with his loving wife, Ruby and family by his side. With optimism and determination, he faced each day, hoping to regain his health so he could finish some of his projects.

He was born at home May 5, 1931, In Northmark, Alberta, Canada (60 miles north of Grand Prairie) to Sherman and Augusta Klix Hagloch, together they raised five wonderful children, Alice, Ralph, Elmer, Lloyd and Bert. Elmer had a wonderful childhood in northern Alberta, then the family moved to Ohio In 1947 for the milder climate. He graduated from Dover High School in 1949.

He was accepted at the Agricultural College of Utah, which he attended on the ROTC deferment program. He graduated from USU in 1954 and enlisted In the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant. In 1952, he married Joyce Whitney, of Cokeville, Wyoming. They became the parents of four exceptional children: Shirleen, Gene, Brent, and Rhonda. In 1965, he attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, working on a master's degree. He flew defoliator planes in Viet Nam 1968-69, Elmer also flew the B-47 up until he retired in 1975. After 20 years and 17 moves, he retired as a Major and moved the family to Bountiful, Utah. Elmer and Joyce divorced In 1977.

Because of his education and experience, he was Immediately hired by Morton Thiokol as a chief programmer. In 1988, he married Beverly Sawyer. They spent 24 years together, until her passing in 2012.

Some people wait their entire lives for true love and their happily-ever-after. This was true for Elmer when he rekindled a friendship with Ruby Bradshaw. Friendship blossomed into love, and they were married on June 4, 2016. They were able to spend seven wonderful years traveling, building a house, and a happy life together. Thankfully, we know they will be together again.

Elmer is survived by his wife Ruby, children; Shirleen (Lee) Hunter, Gene (Sharon) Hagloch, Brent (Michelle) Hagloch, Rhonda (Mike) Stoker, bonus children; Tammy (Guy) Isakson and Annette Russell and (Troy Leatherwood); 24 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
