Elmer C. Muirbrook
NORTH OGDEN a" Elmer Charles Muirbrook, 91, died Saturday, May 12, 2007 in Layton.
He was born July 29, 1915 in Warren, Utah, a son of Alexander and Serena White Muirbrook.
Elmer married Mildred Holley on February 7, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mildred preceded him in death on May 1, 2001.
He was raised in the West Warren area and was a graduate of Weber High School and attended classes at Weber State College.
Elmer was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission as one of the pioneering missionaries in the Brazil Mission, as a German speaking missionary. He served in many leadership and teaching positions in the church throughout his life.
Elmer was a welder, sheet metal worker, carpenter and realtor. He was instrumental in the construction of Bonneville High School, the old McKay-Dee Hospital, the Dee Events Center and numerous other buildings in our community.
Elmer was a member of the Carpenters Union and the Golden Spike Gem and Mineral Club. He was one of the founding co-op members of the Gold Star Community at Quartzsite, Arizona. He was a silversmith and enjoyed woodworking, photography, hunting, and Elmer was a self taught musician playing numerous musical instruments.
In addition to his numerous stated and unstated accomplishments, Elmer''s family and their accomplishments have brought him the greatest joy.
Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Lynn (Sharon) Muirbrook, North Ogden; David (Pamela) Muirbrook, Farmington; Carolyn (Tom) Eddy, Honeyville; Barbara (Michael) Mayhue, Layton; 21 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three grandsons, one great-granddaughter, one great-great-granddaughter, four brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
