Elmer Leroy Simmons passed away October 14, 2018 following complications from a stroke. He was born on Father’s Day, June 20, 1937. He was raised in Layton, Utah.
He married Joanne LaVine on March 2, 1956. He loved cars, fish and his family. Elmer worked on cars for years, eventually opening his own auto clinic, which he ran until his retirement. Elmer loved cars, spending his later years fixing and restoring several 50’s Mercury’s. He loved fish. Elmer loved fishing; he loved eating fish, and even enjoyed a time raising fish for the local pet stores.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivan (Ted) Simmons and Ethel (Smart) Simmons, his brother V. Donald Simmons (LaFay), sisters, Marian Wanner (Jon), Eileen Taylor (Jay), Carolyn Martin, and grandson Jon Christensen (Jocelyn). He is survived by his sister Debra Larsen (Gordon), his wife Joanne Simmons, his children, Cathy Christensen (Kurt), Jolene Hanline (Jeff), Julie Knighton (Guy), and Jason Simmons (Julie), ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main St., Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit family one hour prior to services.
