Elmo David "Edd" Lesley
Elmo David "Edd" Lesley passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Stoney Brooke Assisted Living Center of natural causes.
He was born September 6, 1917 in Gideon, Missouri to Andrew Jackson and Bessie Mae Mobley Lesley, one of eight children. He left Missouri as a young man and traveled to Utah to work with the CC Camps. He returned to Missouri, but eventually made it back to Utah with a dime in his pocket on a railcar. He met Leanore Sparrow and they were married on August 18, 1939 in Midvale, Utah. Edd and Lee spent the last 73 years together working as a pair and loved being together in Riverdale, Utah.
Edd made his career working for Union Pacific Railroad for 37 years, while in his spare time building three mobile home parks by pouring and finishing the cement, laying utility lines and planting the grass all with the help of friends and family. Edd and Lee made a success of running the mobile home parks in Riverdale, Utah for 41 years.
He always worked hard, but made time for fun also. His family was his main priority and the family spent time together fishing, camping, hunting, skiing and sitting on his freshly washed driveway. He loved driving a boat across the water, dropping a hook in to catch some fish and sitting around a campfire telling stories and laughing. Edd and Lee were able to travel together in their Airstream trailer visiting friends and relatives often.
Edd is survived by his loving spouse, Lee; daughter, Bonnie (Robert) Marshall, West Haven, UT; sons, David (Vickie) Lesley, West Weber, UT and Greg (Taunya) Lesley, Punta Gorda, FL; sister, Vickie Evins, West Plains, MO; sister-in-law, Chris Leslie, Cordova, TN; 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren all of whom have been touched and shaped by this great man.
