Elmo “Bud” Phillips

July 1925 – March 2015

Elmo “Bud” Phillips returned to his Heavenly Father and his sweetheart, Dorothy Heaton Phillips, on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at the age of 89.

Elmo was born on July 17, 1925 to John Clairmond and Catherine Butterfield Phillips in Taylorsville, Utah, the third of nine children.  He married Dorothy Heaton on March 24, 1950.  They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 1, 1953.

Elmo was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He and his wife served a church-service mission at the family history center in Salt Lake City.  He was a member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers.  He served in the Navy during World War II.  He owned his own TV repair business in Nampa, Idaho for several years, being one of the first in the Rocky Mountain area.  He later worked for HAFB, repairing radar and electronic equipment, retiring in 1988.

The most important thing in his life was his family.  He was a dedicated son, brother, uncle, husband, father and grandfather.  He loved spending time with family gardening, camping, hunting, and on vacations.  He taught his children the value of hard work and led by example.

Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, and daughter, Connie Potter.  Survived by sons, Terry (Valerie), Larry (Holly), Kendell (Terrie), son-in-law, Gary (Marcie) Potter.  Elmo and Dorothy have 24 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
