Elna S. Perry
Elna S. Perry, 85, of South Ogden passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010, in Ogden.
Elna was born in Washington, D.C. on September 11, 1924, and moved to Phoenix, Arizona at age 4. Elna later moved to Provo, Utah at age 9. She married the love of her life, Kenneth on July 21, 1947, and was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple a year later. They went on to raise their family and eventually settled in Layton, Utah.
She was a graduate of BYU with degrees in Accounting and Education. She retired from the IRS in Ogden after 15 years of service. Elna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was the Organist and Visiting Teacher for many years. Elna enjoyed embroidery, crochet, gardening, all animals and the desert. Her greatest love was driving and would take daily trips to "get lost", have lunch and visit friends and family. She was loved for her spunk and "tell it like it is" attitude.
Elna was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Perry; daughter, Nancy Perry Baird; sister, Juanita Close-Bruschke; and two granddaughters. She is survived by a son, Don Perry; daughters, Norma Pitt, Pat Lindeman and Gail Fleming; a grandson whom she raised, Brant Baird; 21 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing for family and friends will be held Thursday, June 3, 2010, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 4, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street Provo, Utah.
The family would like to thank the professional staff at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living in South Ogden, for their many years of friendship and care; Ogden Regional Medical Center and the many who offered help, support and prayers.
