Eloise Evelyn Petracek passed away on October 20, 2014 in Ogden, Utah. She was born on November 24, 1928 to Alice Evelyn Woollums and Hugh Luther McConnell in Wildon, Iowa. She enjoyed living in a variety of places, including Iowa, Wyoming, Florida, California, North Carolina and Utah.
Along with square dancing, Eloise enjoyed counted cross stitch, card games, and gambling. She worked as a telephone operator in Torrington, Wyoming and at Saint Benedicts Hospital in Ogden, Utah. She also worked for HAFB for 26 years as a contract specialist.
Eloise is survived by her son, Michael (Rayma) Petracek, and her daughter, Brenda (Scott) Collard and their children, Amy and Kayleen. She is also survived by her siblings, Norma “Jean” Hoover, Mona “Joyce” Mong, Eva Lue McConnell, William “Bill” (Janie) McConnell, Linda Sue (Jim) Wallace, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Phyllis Elaine Witt and Donna Marie Jenkins.
Eloise will be remembered for her loving heart, quiet strength, stubbornness, competitive card games, expensive coffee mistakes, and her overwhelming love for her children and grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff in the ER and ICU at Ogden Regional Hospital, and the staff and friends at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living for their special relationship.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd, Layton. Friends may visit with family from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the mortuary, prior to the service.
