Eloise Adele Mears Mayo Traverso
Eloise Adele Mears Mayo Traverso passed away peacefully on December 22, 2015 at her home in Ogden, Utah. She was 92 years old. She was born in May 1923 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Charles Leonard Mears and Louise Mac Arthur.
She married William C. Mayo in Dec, 1940 in La Crosse. Together they lived a wonderful military life of travel around the United States, Europe as well as South America. Upon retirement they resided in Nevada City, Ca and Penn Valley Ca. William passed away in June 1989. She then married Normand H. Traverso in August 1990 in Grass Valley, California. Normand passed away in November 2005.
In 2009 she moved to Ogden, Utah. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution since 1976 as well as the Republican Women.
She enjoyed golf, tennis, snow and water skiing, bridge, sewing, dancing and was a skilled oil painter.
She is survived by her brother, David (Norma) Mears of Dayton, Ohio; five children, William (Sandy) Mayo of Lincoln, Ca; Steven (Janet) Mayo of Viola, Ark; Robin (Geni) Mayo of Lemoore, Ca; Ted (Penny) Mayo of Ogden, Ut; Marc (Jamie) Mayo of Melbourne, Australia; and 1 step daughter Karen (Don) Urbielewicz of Coralas, New Mexico; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Franklin Mears.
Services will be held in Grass Valley, California by Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. Utah services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
