Elsie Marie Rigby Partridge
LAYTON a" Elsie Marie Rigby Partridge passed away at home, Sunday, September 16, 2012. She was the widow of Neil Robertson Partridge.
Elsie was born in Sugar City, Idaho, to David Eckersley Rigby and Agnes Elsie Price Rigby on January 2, 1917. Raised in Idaho and Montana, Elsie trained as a nurse at the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Hospital. It was while working as a nurse in Lovell, Wyoming, that she met Neil. They married on June 26, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Elsie and Neil lived in Laramie, Wyoming; San Francisco, California (while Neil served in the U.S. Navy during WWII); Cheyenne, Wyoming; Aurora, Colorado; New York City, New York; Chatham, New Jersey; Wheatridge, Colorado; and retired to Santa Clara and later Layton, Utah. Elsie and Neil made life-long friends everywhere they lived.
She was a faithful, life-time member of the L.D.S. Church, serving in a variety of leadership and teaching positions. She also served as a Stake missionary and later served a welfare mission with her husband.
Elsie loved music. Although she had little formal musical training, she sang and played the piano. She also sewed and did handiwork. She spent nearly 20 years working as a nurse, but her biggest interest was (and still will be) her family.
Elsie is survived by: son, Dr. Scott (Cheryl) Partridge, Mesa, Arizona; daughters, Ann Shunn, Kaysville, Utah; Maureen (Boyd) Ross, Layton, Utah; brother, Charles Rigby, Lindon, Utah; and stepbrothers, Grant Wilson, Driggs, Idaho; Wayne Wilson, Logan, Utah; and Dr. Merrill Wilson, Salt Lake City, Utah. Elsie is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.
Elsie is preceded in death by: sons, Michael and Erick; brothers, Grant, Ross, Clark, Noel, Price, and Rex Rigby; sister, Maysel Rigby; stepbrothers, Ralf and Mark Wilson; and stepsister, Suzanne Wilson McKay.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Cowley, Wyoming Cemetery.
