LAYTON – Elsie Kay Spaeth passed away at Ogden Hospital August 16, 2013. She was born November 16, 1941, the daughter of Gilbert Sager Chadwick and Clara Ash in Bingham Canyon Utah and grew up in American Fork.
At age sixteen she married George Paxton and a year and a half later they were sealed in the Logan Temple. The young couple had four children; Clint, Rick, Jerry and Mechelle. She was a Navy wife and lived in several locations, after ten years they divorced. Kay was a single mother for a couple years and then married Sam Spaeth. Together they had one daughter, Renae. In 1973 the family moved to West Point. Four years later she found herself as a single mother again.
Kay has five loving children and thirteen grandchildren; Nathan, CleAnn, Jolynda, Kristal, Merranda, Adam, Mark, Kevin, Ben, Brooke, Kaylynn, Tyler and Chantry.
She was employed at many places and has lived in many places but has spent the last 30 years in the Layton area. She loved crafts, reading and traveling. Kay was fiercely independent and had many adventures.
She loves her brothers and sisters and was proud of them all. Some of her family has preceded her in death. She is enjoying a reunion with them now. Her parents Gilbert and Clara, step mom Dora, sister Nora, step sister Beverly and her son Jerry were waiting with open arms.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rolling Hills Branch Chapel, 590 W. Antelope Dr., Layton, Utah. Friends may visit family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
The family wishes to thank all that helped and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family to help pay for the funeral expenses.
