Elsiemae P. Bryan
OGDEN – Elsiemae Patterson Bryan completed her second estate on September 24, 2008 and is presently in the paradise section of the spirit world.
She was born in Salt Lake City as the only daughter of Robert William and Bertha Kammerman Patterson. Most of her early years were spent in Santa Monica, California.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Brigham Young University and devoted the rest of her life in harmony with her chosen profession to the service of others.
Elsiemae was a valiant, intelligent daughter of the Almighty and recognized early in life the divine mission of Jesus Christ. She oriented her life to the teachings of the restored gospel, serving as a lifelong missionary, as well as in many leadership positions including Relief Society and Primary Presidencies.
She believed that God gave his children free agency along with the responsibility to create laws and governments and was a strong patriot of the United States of America. She recognized the need for law enforcement at the local, national, and world level. She loved and respected the men and women in the United States Military and wanted to support them. As such, she enlisted as a nurse in the Air Force, became a Chief Nurse of several Air Force Medical Units, participated in the evacuation of troops from Vietnam, was selected as the Outstanding Reserve Nurse for the entire United States on two occasions, and was called to Active Duty during Desert Storm. She retired with the rank of Colonel.
Elsiemae was as perfect of a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend as is earthly possible.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. Donald W. Bryan, Ogden; one daughter, Kathleen (Craig) Kleinman, North Salt Lake; and three grandchildren, Connor, Colson and Ella.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 29 at 11 a.m. at the Spring Canyon Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6350 Combe Road, Uintah, with Bishop Kenneth Borchert officiating.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the Ward Chapel from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, where Military Honors will be accorded by the Hill Air Force Base Honor Guard.
