Elva Josephine Crowther Hawkley, 91, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013 at her home.
She was born April 4, 1922 in Harrisville, Utah to Albert Lawrence and Ellen Catherine Groberg Crowther. She was raised and educated in Harrisville, graduating from Weber High School and Ogden Business College.
On August 14, 1943, Elva married Dean Stanger Hawkley in Miami, Florida. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on January 5, 1945.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days where she served faithfully in many callings.
Elva helped her husband run Superior Beauty School and Salons. She served as an election judge and volunteered at the Senior Center in Riverdale City. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was honored as the Grand Marshal for Riverdale City Old Glory Days.
Elva loved being of service to others. She enjoyed arts and crafts and especially time spent with her family.
Elva is survived by her children, Rick (Judy) Hawkley, JoDean (Eugene Peay) Jones, Lynette (Greg) Limburg, Sharilyn (Merle) Hawthorne, 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, a sister, Eleanor Painter, and a sister-in-law, Barbara Crowther.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Lawrence, Chester, Kenneth, sisters Eva Dabb, Jennie Dabb, and great-grandson, Abram Dean Jones.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 5th at 1 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. The family will meet with friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
