ALPINE a" Joan Marsh Gardner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2012. Born in Los Angeles, California on September 29, 1938 to Rex Marsh and Donna Renshaw. Married Miller Robinson Gardner in the Los Angeles Temple on September 21, 1957. She was a devoted member of the LDS Church. Joan served as an ordinance worker in the Mt. Timpanogos Utah Temple, and a mission with her husband to Geneva, Switzerland. She dearly loved her family. A great source of joy for Joan was doing for and being with her family. Joan had a special interest in researching and writing family histories. She is loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Joan is survived by six children: Sherman (Tammy) Gardner, Layton, UT; Janet (Craig) Miller, Alpine, UT; Marshall (Deanna) Gardner, Layton, UT; Sanford (Alecia) Gardner, Layton, UT; Emily (Chris) Williams, Nashville, TN; and Paula (Mark) Lewis, Las Vegas, NV; 24 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Additional survivors include her siblings Mary (Jon) Tibbets, John (Brenda) Marsh, and Kathy (Mark) Calkins.
Joan was preceded in death by daughter Lorri Annette Gardner and sister Janet Elaine Shattuck.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 31, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Alpine 5th Ward Chapel, 98 East Canyon Crest Road, Alpine, UT. Friends may visit with family on Sunday, December 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. and at the church on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services.
Interment, Alpine City Cemetery.
