Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and a longtime resident of Layton, Emma Fay Bruce, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2024. She was born on February 26, 1939, in Ogden, Utah, to George Gerrit and Grace Hansen Udink. She graduated from Weber High School.
She met Dean Bruce while square dancing and they were married on October 4, 1985, in Ogden, Utah, and were later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple. They enjoyed 25 years being together until Dean’s passing on August 12, 2010.
Emma was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings over the years.
She loved gardening and spending time in her gardens, she also enjoyed reading and listening to LDS Hymns. Emma’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Emma is survived by her children, Yvonne Jacobsen Montierth, John (Julie) Jacobsen, Steven (Mindy) Jacobsen, Roger (Charlene) Jacobsen, Christine (Ryan) Scullin, Karen Jacobsen, Allen (Lacy) Jacobsen, Nathan (Kortney) Jacobsen, and Keri (Melanie) Bruce; 26 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren; and brother, Tom (Elaine) Udink. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; daughter-in-law, Kristie; her parents; and 12 siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Vae View Ward Chapel, 1715 West 1600 North, Layton. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
