Emma Mae Hunter Checketts
Ogden- Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Emma Mae Checketts, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday April 8, 2011.
Emma Mae was born in Taylor, Utah on May 22, 1921 daughter of Adam and Emma Hunter. Mae was the youngest of seven children. On January 8, 1941 she married Wallace Reed Checketts. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden temple.
Wallace and Mae had three children and lived in Ogden all of their married life. Wallace passed away August 8, 1982.
Mae was known for her wit and smile. She enjoyed writing poems for family, friends and co-workers. She loved life and spent much of her time serving others.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings, but one of her favorites was that of a Primary teacher. She also served for over 25 years as Stake Single Adult Representative, hosting countless activities.
Mae retired from the American Can Company after 25 years of service. She loved spending time with friends and family. She enjoyed traveling and took many tours with her sisters and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings, daughter Arlene Brown Overly, and one great-grandson.
She is survived by her children, Claudia (Blain) Edwards, Grant (Randy) Checketts; 9 grandchildren: Kenny (Jann) Edwards, Gary (Peggy) Edwards, David (Glenna) Edwards, Tammy (Jeff) Peterson, Angie (Rob) O''Brien, Carrie Deskins, Tim Brown, Krissy Checketts, Ryan Checketts; three step-grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care provided by the staffs of Manor Care and Legacy Hospice.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 13, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Ogden Lindquist''s Mortuary 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family will meet with friends on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:45 to 1:45 at the mortuary.
