EMMA JEAN STONEY THURSTON born March 29th 1934 passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 18th 2023 surrounded by family.
Emma Jean was born in Ogden, Utah, daughter of Remon and Violet Grieve Stoney. Emma Jean was a proud graduate of Ogden High School class of 1952.
She went on to meet the love of her life, Neil Rex Thurston, while working at Safeway. The couple was married on January 23rd 1953 and later sealed in the Salt Lake temple. They lived in Ogden, and later moved to Clinton where they have resided for 55 years.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities over the years. Some of her favorites included working with the special needs primary children, young women and faithfully serving as a visiting teacher. When her children were older, she worked for about 13 years at DDO and HAFB. After she retired, she and Neil enjoyed traveling in their 5th wheeler and especially spending time at their property in Lava Ranches.
Emma Jean was an avid bowler and golfer. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She loved going for long walks until she was no longer able to do so. She lived a life full of service, taking care of her parents, a sister in law, and friends in need. She was loved and cherished by many, and is remembered as a bright, fun spirit anywhere she went. A people person, she particularly enjoyed spending time with her children and extended family.
