Emma Pauline John
February 26, 1918 ~ November 15, 2007
KAYSVILLE – Our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Emma Pauline John, peacefully left this earth on the morning of November 15, 2007. The passing of this sweet, kind and generous woman brought tears of sorrow and joy to her family who will remember her always. She was 89 years old. She has been a great example of one who had her priorities in order. She lived what she believed. Serving her Savior, her family and others were her priorities in life.
Mom was born February 26, 1918 in Mancos, Colorado to Nathaniel and Effie Decker. She and her eternal companion, Cecil Ellis John were married in the Salt Lake City LDS temple on July 3, 1944. They shared 44 wonderful years together, and now they are reunited once again. Together they raised six children.
She devoted her life to her family and each of us loved her in return. She was very proud of each one of us and our accomplishments. Mom instilled in each of us the importance of family and living the gospel.
Mom was an active member of the LDS Church and faithfully served in many positions throughout her life. She found great joy in serving in the temple and in doing family history work.
Mom served a mission in the New England States as a young lady and later had the opportunity to serve with her husband in the West Indies Mission.
Mom was a 55 year resident of Kaysville, Utah where she made many lasting friendships. She was most at home in her garden where she spent countless hours tending to her flowers and vegetables which she loved to share with others.
Mom, on behalf of your family, thank you for a lifetime of love. Thank you for the memories that we treasure so much. You have forever touched our lives and will be deeply missed.
Mom was survived by her children, Kathleen (Dennis) Hansen, Howard D. (Karen) John, Wayne K. (LaRae) John, Marilyn John, Byron L. (Karen) John and Vickie (Ben) Ashby. She also will be missed by her 27 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Cecil E. John, and her grandchildren, Cadee, Stacy, and Justin.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 19, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Gailey Park 2nd Ward, 50 West 331 South. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
