Emma Jane Thomas SALT LAKE CITY – Jane Thomas passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 Alta View Hospital in Sandy. She was born August 14, 1918 in Layton, the daughter of James and Hazel Bybee Fife. Jane married Richard L. Carter on July 14, 1937. They were later divorced. She married Daniel F. Thomas on May 19, 1946. Daniel preceded her in death on August 3, 1998. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jane retired from the Ogden City Schools where she worked as a secretary. She was an excellent cook and loved to entertain. She was the family caretaker and would do anything for her family. Jane was a member of Agalea Social Club. She also loved to play bridge and dance. Surviving are three sons, Gary L. (Judy) Carter, West Jordan; James D. (Barbara) Carter, Cottonwood Heights, UT; Michael D. (CharRee) Thomas, Austin, TX; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 10 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road. Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
