Emmett Ray Sexton, 84, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. He was born in Heber, Utah, on August 12, 1939, to Ray Chandler and Ruth Gines Sexton. He grew up and was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ben Lomond High School.
He married Margaret Adell Deubler on June 20, 1959. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on their 3rd Anniversary on June 20, 1962, and were married for 64 years.
Emmett was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various organizations including on Northern Utah Area Athletic Committee for over 20 years. Emmett and Margaret served as Senior Missionaries in the Massachusetts Boston Mission.
He worked as a computer system analyst at Hill Air Force Base for 32 years and retired in 1993.
Emmett enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golf, and bowling. He liked all sports, but his favorite teams were the Utah Jazz and BYU. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Emmett is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; sons, E Wayne (Michelle) Sexton of Mantua and Michael (Jill) Sexton of West Haven; daughter, Susan (Jeff) Smith of Riverdale; 14 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; 4 step grandchildren; brothers, Larry (Jolene) Sexton of West Haven and Marvin “Skip” (Robin) Sexton of South Ogden; and sisters, Debra (Steve) Ross of Ogden and Bonnie Jones of Ogden. He was preceded in death by his son, Brad Sexton; grandson, Ryan Sexton; parents; sisters, Gay Beardsley and Karma Ellis; and brother, Doyle Sexton.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
