Emmett George Strong

December 29, 1925 ~ September 9, 2014

Our beloved and sweet husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Emmett George Strong, took his last breath and returned home to his Father in Heaven on Tuesday, September 9, 2014.

Dad was welcomed into the world by George Raymond and Mamie Nalder Strong on December 29, 1925.

He loved his family of origin and was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gordan, Alvin, Darrell, and Phyllis.  What a glorious reunion he must have had with them and with his granddaughters, Heather Marie and Austin Michelle Strong.

Dad graduated from Weber High School and left immediately to serve his country.  What a beautiful surprise he gave his future wife to be, Deloris Dean Jensen when he returned with his purple heart and hid in the backseat of her car and unexpectantly surprised her. Dad had a terrific sense of humor and a happy go lucky temperament and sang his way through the day.  Mother and dad married on December 26, 1946, three short days of his 21st birthday and with the permission of his father.

They were blessed with three children, Sheryl (Bruce) Cox; Lynda Gardner, and Brent (Terie Banta) Strong.  They were further blessed with eleven grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.  In addition to being a devoted husband and family man, dad was also a loyal hard working grocery man having worked for various food chains and retired from Dick’s Market in 1988.  Following retirement he battled various heart and health issues, but he traveled thru life with a strong fortitude and a willing attitude. He never did anything half way.  He completed many church callings.  He loved serving with mother in the Ogden LDS Temple.

The family acknowledges with gratitude the CNAs’ and nurses who cared for dad at Manor Care.

Dad came home and shared the last six weeks of his life with his family and we greatly appreciate the loving care provided by Dignity Hospice.
