Emola M. Lowe
WASHINGTON TERRACE – Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Emola M. Lowe, 89, died peacefully Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Ogden Regional Medical Center surrounded by her daughters.
She was born April 6, 1922 in Devils Slide, Utah, a daughter of Giuseppi and Gelsomina Matteucci.
On January 30, 1940, Emola married Clarence H. Lowe in Ogden, Utah. He preceded her in death on August 27, 1988.
She was a member of the Catholic Church, later converting to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She was a supervisor for the Utah State Industrial School. She served as president of the N.A.R.F.E. for many years and in 1967, won the Outstanding State Employee Award.
Emola enjoyed sewing, crafts, fishing and hunting.
The family expresses thanks to Dr. Chris Merkley for his care and concern over the years and the staff at Ogden Regional Medical Center.
Surviving are three daughters, Jolene (LaVar) Weaver, South Ogden; Clara Strong, Clinton; Connie (Tom) Stone, Washington Terrace; 20 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and 42 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Emola in death were her husband Clarence, daughter, Nancy Piper, granddaughter, Diane Bates, sister, Eade Pistoia and brothers, Adelma, Tato, Guido and Alberico.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, South Morgan Cemetery.
