Ephraim Don Nielsen
October 7, 1930 ~ December 15, 2017
Ephraim Don Nielsen passed away peacefully Friday, December 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family, to be reunited with his wife, Renee.
He was born October 7, 1930 in Malad, Idaho to Leland Mark and Mary Thorpe Nielsen. He graduated from Weber County High School, Class of 1949.
He married LaRee Denning on September 22, 1950. They had two children, Marilyn and Gary and later divorced. On September 28, 1961, Don married Renee L. Profaizer in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had two children together, Kris and Todd.
Dad served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a cook.
He worked at Boeing as a sheet metal worker while starting heating and sheet metal on the side out of his garage. He started his own business, Ace Sheet Metal, Inc. which he ran successfully for more than 30 years.
Dad enjoyed hunting, camping, boating and snowmobiling. He had a passion for horses and horse races, old Western movies and old country music.
Dad and Mom were loyal Utah Jazz fans until the end. They enjoyed their time together as they traveled and cruised various places, also Wendover trips and playing cards with the family. Dad was dearly loved by his family. He loved spending time with his family whether it be a horse competition, a day at the races, a hunting expedition or relaxing at home for Jazz game night. He loved to get the family together at the holidays and enjoyed the companionship of their Yorkie, Tiki.
Don is survived by his children, Todd (Dawnell) Nielsen, Roy; Gary (JuliAnne) Nielsen, Roy; Kristine (Brent) Roylance, West Haven; Marilyn Baldonado (Anthony Romero), New Mexico; 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and two sisters, Beth Horne and Janet Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother and two grandchildren.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Encompass Home Care and Hospice services and Lotus Park Assisted Living for the loving care they provided Don.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Wednesday, December 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
