Erik Daniel Cheney, 50, of sunset, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022 in Florida surrounded by family. Born to Michael and Joan Cheney on February 27, 1972 at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Erik attended Mountain High School and Young Parents in Kaysville, Utah.

He married the love of his life, Laurie, on February 22, 2002 at 2:22 p.m. and was a proud father of four girls, one boy, and seven grandchildren.

Erik loved his experience working at Walker Powder Coating in Layton, Utah, where he was especially proud to say he personally took part in powder coating the motorcycle of the Utah Jazz Mascot "Bear". 

He loved music, gardening, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. His favorite places, where Grandpa’s Cabin and Cisco Beach.

Erik is survived by his wife, Laurie Cheney; and five children, Shaelynn (Brandon) Hass, James (Angela) Cheney, Aurora Cheney, Alyssa Close, and Sarah Close; seven grandchildren; his father, Michael Cheney; three siblings, Eva Cheney, Ryan Mikie (Kat) Cheney, and Crystal (Mike) Hahn; many nieces and nephews; and grandmother, Ruth Rose. Preceded in death by his mother, Joan Cheney.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at America First Credit Union in Erik’s name.
