Erma Jessie Fowers VanMeeteren

OGDEN a€" Erma VanMeeteren, 91, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Crestwood Care Center.

She was born March 17, 1917 in Hooper, Utah to John Robert and Janie Elizabeth Douglass Fowers.

Erma married Clarence W. Jones on June 21, 1933. They later divorced. She married Jakop VanMeeteren on April 9, 1948 in Ogden. Jakop passed away June 12, 1970. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was sealed to Jakop in the Salt Lake Temple on July 25, 1971.

Erma retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1976.

She enjoyed her volunteer work as a Pink Lady for 12 years.

Surviving are her daughter, Shirleen Jones (John) Powell, Denison, TX; grandson, Mark J. (Cathy) Powell, Richardson, TX; great-grandchildren, Matthew Powell, Bradley Powell and Ashley Powell, all of Richardson, TX; her sister-in-law, June Fowers, Idaho Falls, ID; and several nieces and nephews.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, four sisters and her husband Jakop.

The family expresses special thanks to niece Jean Goodwin and nephew Douglas Fowers, and the wonderful nursing staff at Crestwood Care Center.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 27 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.

Friends may call at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
