OGDEN a€" Ernesto Esquivel Martinez, 81, died peacefully at McKay-Dee Hospital surrounded by his family on Monday, November 17, 2008, following a brief battle with a pulmonary infection. Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend will be loved and missed by many who knew him.

He was born June 20, 1927 in Los Angeles, California, a son of Luis and Benita Martinez. He moved with his family to Utah in 1979 and in early 1981, he opened the once well known Mexican restaurant "Mexico Tipico" on Historic 25th St. in Ogden. He later retired from Laredo Packing Company.

He married Inez Juarez in Laredo, Texas.

Ernesto enlisted with the U.S. Marine Corps and was recognized as a World War II Veteran.

He loved spending time with his family and was a big fan of sports - boxing and baseball being his favorites.

Dad, till we meet again and embrace each other in heaven, God bless you; sweet dreams; and we love you.

Surviving are his children, Juan Carlos, Ernesto, Jr., Roberto, Eduardo, Rogelio, Thomas, David and Octavio Martinez, Ernestina and Dora Martinez, Laura Aragon, Benita Diaz and Nancy Landa and their respected spouses; 25 grandchildren, Diana Carranza, Juan Carlos, Jr., and Esteban Martinez, Esther Medina, Amanda and Eduardo Jr. Martinez, Elsa Bustos, Maricruz, Rebeca, and Veronica Aragon, Vanessa Matrevors, Angie, Nicole and Roy A. Martinez, Francisco, Angelica, Fernando, Porfirio and Daniel Martinez, Erica and Oscar Diaz, Cesar and Emilio Martinez, Uriel Landa, Omar Puentes, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Ernesto was preceded in death by his loving wife, Inez Juarez Martinez.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. the Ogden City Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded.

Friends may visit with the family at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
