"Together Again"
Ervil W. Welch
PLEASANT VIEW – Ervil W. Welch returned to our Heavenly Father quietly in his sleep on Monday, July 14, 2008.
He was born July 2, 1931 in Houlka, Mississippi, to Dallas R. and Ruby Berry Welch. He was the oldest of eight children.
Ervil served his country with the U.S. Navy.
He graduated from B.Y.U. and was by far the most AVID B.Y.U. Fan ever!! He held season tickets to nearly every sport played at B.Y.U. including the women’s sports. He also enjoyed, and was a big supporter of Weber High School women’s athletics.
On February 5, 1971, Ervil married the love of his life, Mary Louise Smith, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ervil helped raise five of her seven children. Mary Lou preceded him into the next life on October 20, 1981. What a reunion the two of them must be having.
He retired from the Utah Department of Employment Security (Job Service).
Ervil was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Ogden Temple and most recently the Provo Temple. He held many other callings within the church.
Surviving are his seven children, Debbie (Clayton) Christiansen, Ogden; Gordon Parkhurst, Norfolk, VA; Judy (Ty) Kleeb, Malad, ID; Grant (Shelley) Carver, North Ogden; Kathy (Bill) Barker, Kaysville; Greg (Jeri) Carver, Sandy; DeeDee (Mark) Richins, North Ogden; 17 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are five sisters, Sharon, Glenda, Mickey, Sandy, Jackie and one brother, Freddie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two sisters, Vicky and Bobbie Jean.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
