Ervin Junior Herdt

Ervin Junior Herdt, 92, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022 in Fountain Hills, AZ. He was born on October 12, 1929 in Scottsbluff, NE, to Heinrick “Henry” and Millie Schnell Herdt. He grew up in Scottsbluff. After graduating from high school, he joined the Navy and was later drafted into the Marines and served in Korea during the Korean War.
After returning home, he married Jeannine A. Morris on December 3, 1954 in Scottsbluff, NE. Ervin graduated from the University of Nebraska with a BS in Business Administration and moved the family to Clearfield, UT, where they lived for 60 plus years. Jeannine passed away after 66 years together on December 10, 2020.
Ervin was a member of the Clearfield Community Church for over 60 years.
He worked at Hill Air Force Base as a program manager and retired in 1984.
Ervin enjoyed fishing and camping. After retiring, he loved traveling with his sweetheart, Jeannine. Ervin loved his grandchildren and was always wrestling and playing games with them. He also played in a poker club for over 4 decades.
Ervin is survived by his children, Keena K. (Dan) Perguson of Bonita Springs, FL, Douglas J. (Tricia) Herdt of Washington, UT, Peggi A. Herdt of Ogden, UT, and Richard E. (Dana) Herdt of Fountain Hills, AZ; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannine; his parents; and daughter-in-law, Tina Marie Wood Herdt.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Clearfield Community Church, 525 East 200 South. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd.
