Esta Lee Waite

Esta Lee Waite, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2014, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was born to the late David Iva McCombs and Verna Jewel Lane, January 13, 1923, in Clairmont, Texas. Lee proudly graduated from high school in Bakersfield, California. She married Eldon Page Waite in 1970 and they have lived together in Salt Lake City, Utah, for the last 45 years.

Lee loved to cook and collected many books on cooking. She spent many hours studying the bible and its inspirational message. Dancing and playing cards were some of her favorite hobbies. Her social life included playing water volleyball, attending parties, and enjoying the company of her friends. She was a detailed planner and a thrifty shopper. Always classy and fashionable and never left the house without “her face on”. Generosity and sincerity were always part of her character. She had a great uninhibited sense of humor. She is loved and greatly missed.

Lee is survived by her brother I.V. McCombs (Fran); sister Joy Jackson (J.B.); and sister Gae Stamps (Gene).  She is preceded in death by her sister Fearn Gloria Costa (Claude).

She is also survived by her husband Eldon, three children and Eldon's four children: Michael D. Conway (Eva); Pamela Lundevall (Brent); Sherrill Orr; Kristine Law (Richard); Eldon Craig Waite (Mary); Kerry Waite (Lorraine); Lisa Ferguson and their children and grandchildren.

Friends may visit with family on Friday, May 16, 2014, from 6-8 pm, at the Rose Park 9 th Ward LDS Chapel 760 North 1200 West in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 17, 2014, 11 am, at Syracuse City Cemetery, 1563 North 1000 West, Syracuse, Utah.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton.
