Estella Perea
BRIGHAM CITY – Estella Perea, 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2008 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Brigham City.
Estella was born September 26, 1927 in Questa, New Mexico, to David and Donicia Garcia. She was the oldest of 10 children.
On December 26, 1946, she married Ignacio Perea in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after a two-week courtship and they were together for 61 years.
She resided in Ogden with her husband until 2000, before moving to Brigham City. She had been involved in the jail ministry while living in Ogden. She was a homemaker and a licensed day care provider.
Estella was a member of Victory First Assembly of God Church in Brigham City. She was never one to shy away from sharing her faith. She was a lady of strong principles and conviction, who loved God and people and was always ready to help others. She always took care of her family, teaching them to take responsibilities in life. She was a true prayer warrior.
The family would like to thank the staff at Alpine Hospice, with special thanks to Teri, Ashley, Pam and Laura for their love, compassion and excellent care of our mother.
She is survived by her husband, Ignacio, of Brigham City; four sons and one daughter, David (Martha) Perea, Robert (Connie) Perea, Lorraine (Mark) Gonzales, Ignacio (Josie) Perea, Jr., all of Brigham City; Pastor Tom (Kathy) Perea, Cheyenne, WY; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by five brothers, Ben, Robert, David, Ralph and Roger and two sisters, Eloisa and Lola.
One daughter, Mary Jane, her parents and two sisters, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 1:45 to 2:45 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
