Esther “Lorie” Lorraine Hansen

Esther “Lorie” Lorraine Hansen, 67, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016. She was born on November 24, 1948 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, the daughter of Dellis Albert and Hilda Abigail McCrone Gill. At the age of 2 the family moved to Ogden, Utah. She attended Lincoln and Bonneville Elementary Schools, Highland Jr. High and Ben Lomond High School. She later moved to Citrus Heights, CA before settling in Ogden.
As a youth she was a member of the LDS Church, as young adult, a member of the Catholic Church, and became a Christian as a senior adult. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Layton and was a member of the choir.
She worked as an Avon Representative but mostly she was a wife and mother. Rearing her children and supporting her family and friends were very important to her. She enjoyed camping and floral design and other crafts.
She will be remembered as a loving champion of underdogs, whether people or animals; she had an open heart and home.
Lorie is survived by her husband, Ernie Hansen Jr., Ogden; sons, Mark E. (Cathy) Frowein, Clearfield; Steven E. (Cami) Hansen, Ogden; Christopher E. Hansen, Emmett, ID; and Terrance V. (Jennifer) Hansen, Ogden; daughters, Jennifer Lynn (Robert) Anderson, Layton and Carrie Ann (Robert) O’Brien, Layton; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; siblings, Roy E. (Yvonne) Alexander, Ogden; Frank D. (Penny) Smith, Morgan; Sharron Brandawie, Ogden, and Sandra Fowers, Ogden. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, brother, Ray; and sister, Sally.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
