LAYTON a€" Esther A. Martinez, 86, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Rocky Mtn Care Center.

She was born May 10, 1923 in San Louis, Colorado the daughter of Charlotte Solo.

Esther married John J. Martinez in 1941 in Texas.

Esther is a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She loved cooking, quilting, gardening, spending time with her husband and family but what was the most important thing to her was being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

Surviving are her husband John of Layton, two sons, John Martinez, Frank (Bobbie) Martin, So. Jordan; three daughters, Eleanore Martinez, Layton; Elizabeth (Steve) Lintner, California; Charlotte Martinez, Maryland; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, June Martinez-Connell, great-granddaughter, Lisa Vigil, and her brothers and sisters.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 22, 2009 at 9 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 South Chapel Street. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Prayer service at 7 p.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
