Esther Belle McGill
BOUNTIFUL a" Esther Belle McGill, 90, died Friday, December 12, 2008 at Legacy House in Bountiful.
She was born February 12, 1918 in Utah, a daughter of Orlando Bowen and Annie Belle Beesley Hadlock.
On August 5, 1938, Esther married George Elsworth McGill in Ogden. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. George preceded Esther in death on January 7, 1995.
She lived in the Ogden area and Wickenburg, Arizona.
Esther was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served on the Homemaking Committees. She loved children and was a Primary Teacher throughout the years. Children of all ages were drawn to Mom.
She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Esther and her husband were members of various square dancing groups, bowling leagues, and enjoyed spending time together golfing. Esther also enjoyed painting, quilting, baking, sewing and gardening. She was a great humanitarian. If her friends and family were ever ill, she was always there to nurse them back to health. Esther had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Dad and Mom spent many summers over the years in the Uinta Mountains at Christmas Meadows in the cabin they built together. They enjoyed getting close to nature and the surrounding beauty.
The family expresses special thanks to the staff at Legacy House in Bountiful.
Surviving are three sons and four daughters, Patrick (Lois Ann) McGill, Boise, ID; Bruce (LouRee) McGill, St. George, UT; Kevin (Janis) McGill, Kaysville, UT; Georgia Morgan, Wickenburg, AZ; Maureen McGill, St. George, UT; Colleen (Johnny) Crittenden, Willard, UT; Shelly McGill, West Haven; 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Esther in death were her husband, parents, and brother, Heber Hadlock.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Branch President Marlo Burningham officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
