Ethel "Ede" Lym Byington, August 12, 1932 - November 26, 2014.
Ede passed away in Murray, Utah on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, surrounded by her children, after a short, but valiant, battle with an aggressive form of acute leukemia. Ede was born in Knight, Wyoming to Sara Lester Lym and Luke William Lym. She married John Felix Robertson – divorced. She then married the love of her life, Neal Dee Byington, of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, on November 16, 1956. They were later sealed in the Bountiful Temple for time and all eternity. They built their home in Bountiful, where they raised their five children, 2 daughters and 3 sons. Ede was widowed at a young age, and from that time on, was the supporter for her family. She will always be known for her stubborn attitude and her hard work ethic. Life was not easy, but she still found time to spend with her family, serve in church callings, and always had a smile on her face.
Ede loved to garden. Even in the days before her death she was out in her yard, enjoying the warm fall weather. She loved animals, especially dogs, and always enjoyed the companionship of a faithful canine. There are too many to even mention, but they all found love at Ede's hand. Ede was also an avid sports fan. She would watch almost any sporting event that was on. She was a diehard Jazz fan, and seldom missed watching a game. Any time you wanted a quiet relaxing evening, you could count on a spot on the couch watching sports with her, cuddled up with a warm furry friend and a full belly.
As a family, we are saddened to be separated from our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. But we are happy for her to be reunited with Neal - who she has missed so much over these many years.
She is survived by her children, Elvin Lee Robertson (Judy) of Centerville, UT, DeVonya Gallivan (Alex) of South Salt Lake, UT, Michelle Byington of Sandy, UT, and Damon Byington (Shelley) of American Fork, UT. She is survived by 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Neal Dee Byington (February 14, 1969) and son Todd Warner Byington (June 15, 2013).
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S. 200 W. under the direction of Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary.
