SOUTH OGDEN a€" Ethel Gwilliam Fowles passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010, just a few short weeks after celebrating her 100th birthday.

She was born April 3, 1910, in West Point to Harry Chambers and Leah O. Moore Gwilliam. She was raised in West Point and graduated from Weber High School in 1927.

On July 28, 1934, she married Thomas LeRoy Fowles in Farmington, UT. Their vows were later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Roy passed away on October 1, 1976.

Ethel worked in retail sales for W. T. Grant, Nadine''s, CC Anderson''s and The Bon Marche. She retired in 1973 after 25 years of service with The Bon.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Lorin Farr Ward for most of her adult life and served in several positions. She especially enjoyed the time she spent working in the German Extraction program.

Her interests included gardening, cooking, sewing and being a mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her children, Sharon Macfarlane, South Ogden; Ron and Annette Child, Riverdale; her grandchildren, Garrett and Carolyn Macfarlane, Ogden; Roger and Karen Macfarlane, Provo; Brooke Karrington, Salt Lake City; Guy and Cari Hassell, South Ogden; Travis and Steffanie Barnes, Syracuse; Tyson and Jessica Child, Ogden. She was known as "GG" to her 18 great-grandchildren. A grandchild, Troy Child, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Family will meet friends at the mortuary on Wednesday, May 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment will take place at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family would like to express appreciation to the staff and friends at Legacy House of Ogden for the care and support they extended to Ethel over the past four years. The family would also like to recognize Vickie, Terry and Marcos of Hospice Intermountain Home Care for the dedication and loving care they provided to Ethel in her time of need.
