Euel Eleanor Coe

Euel Eleanor Worster Coe

After a vibrant and active life, Euel Eleanor Worster Coe passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on July 24, 2009 due to causes incident to age. Euel was born on Sept. 20, 1914 in Webster Plantation, Maine to Ardie and Gladys (Davis) Worster. She was the third of 11 children. As a student at the Lee Academy in Lee, Maine, she served as captain of the girls'' basketball team and a runner on the track team. She enjoyed both her extra-curricular activities and academic life at Lee Academy. Following her school days, she worked in New York City as a personal secretary to opera singer, Lily Pons. She later worked as a dental assistant in Jamaica Plain, Mass. After raising her family she worked for 15 years for Aetna Life Insurance in Hartford, Conn.

She married William Alden Coe in 1946, later divorced. They were the parents of two daughters, Cynthia and Melissa. Euel felt her greatest joys and privileges in life were raising her daughters and being a grandmother and great grandmother. Euel was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When a missionary couple brought the Gospel to their door in Vermont, Euel was ready to hear their message; the rest of her family listened and joined the Church also. She served valiantly, in a variety of callings, in Primary, Young Women''s, Sunday School, and the Relief Society organizations of the Church.

Euel was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Etta and Evelyn; and brothers Glenn, Leo, Ardie Jr., Dale, and Ernest. She is survived by daughters, Cynthia Taylor (Russ) of Provo, Utah and Melissa Taylor (Lewis) of Syracuse, Utah; sister, Lorraine Linscott; and brothers, Lindy and Durward Worster, all of Kingman, Maine. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 3rd at the Syracuse 9th Ward chapel, 1112 South 1525 West, Syracuse, Utah. A viewing will be held, prior to the service, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

The family would like to acknowledge the care rendered by Dr. Douglas Smith, her cardiologist, and the staffs of First Choice Home & Hospice and Orchard Park Rehabilitation Center. We especially want to thank Teresa Covington for her friendship and care to Euel over the past year and a half.
