Eugene Joseph Arsenault, born on September 29, 1924, in Esmond, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, in Layton, Utah. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Eugene's life was a testament to service, integrity, and love.
Growing up during the Great Depression, Eugene entered the workforce at an early age, developing a talent for hard work that would shape his future career. Eugene enlisted and proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II, achieving the rank Pharmacist’s Mate First Class. After the war, Eugene pursued his passion and established a career in auditing and bank management.
Eugene met his beloved wife, Margaret, during World War II. They were married on June 29, 1946, in National City, California. They were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple, fostering a deep commitment to their faith. Eugene served as a Bishop in National City, California, and dedicated time as an ordinance worker in the Los Angeles and Bountiful Temples. He also enjoyed sharing his love for the Church as a Temple Square tour guide and, alongside Margaret, he served as missionaries for the Church's Auditing Department.
Eugene's personality was marked by a warm sense of humor and a caring nature that touched the lives of many. He was known for his storytelling, sharing jokes, and for being a notoriously good hotcake maker and game winner. His hobbies included playing cribbage and fishing. Always an active soul, he loved swimming, exercising, and gardening, enjoying life to the fullest.
Eugene's proudest accomplishments stemmed from his dependable and honest nature, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He is survived by his sons, Daniel and James Arsenault, along with five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who will cherish his memory deeply.
Eugene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret, and his parents. His legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering support will continue to resonate through the generations he leaves behind. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 11 am at Farmington City Cemetery, 500 S. 200 E., Farmington, where full military honors will be accorded.
