Eugene Vermont Barker

Eugene Vermont Barker, 86, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. He was born on February 11, 1932 in Smithfield, Utah, the son of William Vermont and Rozella Laursen Barker. He graduated from Utah State with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
He married Afton Swenson on July 18, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple. Eugene was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Eugene worked as an Electrical Engineer at Hill Air Force Base.
Eugene served in the Korean Conflict.
He was a master wood carver and made wood come to life in the faces he carved.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Afton S. Barker; sons, Steven Eugene (Michelle) Barker and Ted R. (Margie) Barker; daughter, Jann Barker Manning; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Delores, Carol, Bea, and Nola. He was preceded in death by his son, Ted R. Barker; parents, and two sisters.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 East 2850 North, North Ogden. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary.
