Eugene Broby
BRIGHAM CITY – Emil Eugene Marknsen Broby “Gene Broby”, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009, two days before his 81st birthday, surrounded by his loving wife.
He was born July 27, 1928, to Emil Petersen R. and Henriette Karoline Marknsen Broby, who passed away three months after giving birth to him. He was then raised by Charles “Charlie” P. and Etta Nelson Broby in Logan, Utah. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Yuvona (Crowther) Broby, and their four children, Wes (Carolee) Broby, Danville, CA; Kim (Barbara) Broby, Yuma, AZ; Ricky Broby, Brigham City; and Holly (Dennis) Larsen, Edmonton, Alberta Canada; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Grace and Patty Ann, and a half sister, Leora.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one great-grandson.
Gene served with the U.S. Military from October 1946 to February of 1948, which included a deployment to Japan. Following his military service, he and Yuvona settled in Brigham City to raise their family while he worked as a painter for the Ogden Depot (2nd Street). He took an early retirement and secured a job working for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the custodian of the Brigham City 6th and 9th Wards. Due to his outstanding performance, a member of his ward offered him a job as the maintenance director of the Wolf Creek Resort in Eden where he worked and played. He especially enjoyed playing golf there with his sons and son-in-law, until retiring. He spent the remainder of his years enjoying his family, friends, and loved ones.
Gene was a faithful member of the Willard 5th LDS Ward and was a loving and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was a wonderful example for all to follow and he will be truly missed.
The family would like to thank Integrity Hospice for the wonderful care and support they provided during the past few weeks of his life.
