NORTH OGDEN- Eugene Dorton Hansen, 85, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at McKay Dee Hospital.

He was born in Logan, Utah to Melvin and Opal Hogan Hansen on October 14, 1926. Eugene grew up in Ogden on 23rd Street and graduated from Ogden High School. He served in the Army in World War II, and afterwards, went on to college. Eugene attended Weber State University, Woodberry College in California, and University of Utah, and holds several Bachelor''s Degrees from all three schools.

Eugene married the love of his life, Beverly Kearl on November 25, 1953 in Smithfield, Utah. Together they had their lovely daughter, Marcea. Their family was later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Later in life, he was appointed to the Weber State Alumni Board, and went on to become President of the Weber State Alumni Board.

Eugene was elected to the North Ogden City Council. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed working on his family genealogy. He also enjoyed all types of sports.

He is survived by his favorite pet companion Rudy; his Daughter Marcea (Rod) Smith of North Ogden; sister Jeannine (Ken) Merril of Tempe, AZ; his three grandchildren Trey Owen, Kate Owen, and Taylor Owen; and six great-grandchildren.

Eugene is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly in 2008.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. The family will meet with friends on Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
